The Bardot Bouffant Autumn/Winter 2018
Runway hair went retro for the À Moi AW16 New York Fashion Week show, with TRESemmé Ambassador Christopher Naselli creating a trio of iconic 50’s, 60’s and 70’s styles to complement the high necks, flared trousers and crochet knits in this cool, casual collection.
The TRESemmé 1960’s Bardot Bouffant is teased high at the crown and then pulled back into a low pony. It exudes effortless glamour, while being perfectly practical for the modern woman who’s always on the go. Think sexy 60’s volume with a fresh twist!
À Moi models wore edgy under-the-eye black liner and textured ponytails to mix in a modern vibe, but we spied a more polished version of this brilliant bouffant backstage. Our street style inspiration wore her smooth and soft-looking 60’s pony with a smoky eye, red lips, and black and white Breton style stripes – a classic combo that emulates an iconic, cosmopolitan French look.
Despite looking professionally put-together, this sexed-up low pony is a quick and easy style to achieve with just a few tools and the TRESemmé Beauty-Full Volume collection. Here’s how:
Step 1: Start with the back-to-front wash! Yes, that’s right – wash your hair in reverse order, using TRESemmé Beauty-Full Volume Pre-Wash Conditioner to soften the hair, followed by TRESemmé Beauty-Full Volume Shampoo to wash away weight. Then apply a quarter-sized amount of TRESemmé Beauty-Full Volume Maximizer to the roots and rough dry. This will help you achieve that lovely bouffant lift and voluptuous volume.
Step 2: Use your teaser to back-comb hair from the crown – the bigger the better for a stand-out movie star look!
Step 3: Sweep hair across the forehead and gather into a practical low ponytail. An embellished elastic will add extra interest – we spotted sleek and shiny metallic details on the runway.
Step 4: Finish with a light spray of TRESemmé Salon Finish Firm Hold Hair spray for touchable hold – et voilà, a voluminous style inspired by one of the world’s favourite French fashion icons!
You don’t have to be a movie star or a model to rock a Bardot Bouffant – this sexy swept-back style brings out the starlet in every woman.
