How to Curl Short Hair

Curling short hair can be a challenge, but if you do it right, it looks oh, so good. You can do it in different styles too - here our blogger keeps one side straight, giving the illusion of an undercut. Read on to see how she does it using our amazing hair treatment products.

Step 1: Full, bouncy curls are the best type of curls, don’t you agree? To get this full, bouncy look, prep your hair with the TRESemmé 24 Hour Body collection. Begin with the reverse-system pre-conditioner, then the shampoo for a weightless, moisturised cleanse. While your hair is still damp, apply a pea-sized amount of the TRESemmé Keratin Smooth Shine Oil throughout your hair. This makes your hair soft and adds more volume.

Step 2: Blow-dry your hair thoroughly from root to tip. Once your hair is completely dry, brush it out to remove any tangles, and part it however you want it. Take two grips and section off the hair on the top of your head, as it’s best to begin curling at the bottom.

Step 3: Now onto the curling! Take your curling wand or iron, and start curling at the bottom part of the hair near your hairline. Remember to curl away from your face, and make sure that the tips of the hair are also curled around the wand. This will give it a nice, firm curl. If it doesn’t come out just perfect, it’s okay. Just twist it with your fingers and it will take shape. Tip: the smaller the piece of hair you curl, the tighter the curl will be, and vice versa.

Step 4: Continue curling your hair in the same way, including the back and the top of your hair. You may curl the hair on the top so that it falls on your forehead or away from your face, whichever you like best. Remember not to curl one side.

Step 5: Take your flat iron and iron the section of hair that will be kept flat. This will help give it that illusion of an undercut. Tuck it neatly behind your ear and you’re done!
