5 Mum-friendly haircare tips
Being a mum often means sleepless nights, busy days, and a whole lot of multi-tasking. Even on a full-night's sleep, a frantic schedule can mean that washing and styling hair slides down the to-do list. Way down.
So, if you're constantly on the run with no time to maintain your mane, here are some top tips to keep hair looking gorgeous, every day.
Speedy styling
Only have minutes to get bed hair to behave? A low sleek bun, for example, is a quick hairstyle that requires no hot tools to complete and can be done in just a few minutes.
Use a tail comb to part hair down the middle and then smooth it into a low bun; slicking down with some hairspray, such as the TRESemmé Extra Hold Hair Spray. Then you're good to go!

Postpartum fuzzies, be gone
If having babies has left your hair either thin and limp or full of new fluffy hair around your hairline, a good at-home blow-dry can add life back into your mane.
According to Sydney-based hair stylist Cara Clyne perfecting an at-home blowout will keep hair looking great postpartum. "Use a round brush to smooth out the hair including any shorter pieces around the hairline, and to also create body and volume throughout," she explains.
"On day two or three, you can refresh the blow-dry by dampening hair with some heat protectant spray and re-blowdrying around the front and top of your hair. Another tip is to use a flat toothbrush, spray some hairspray on it and use it to pat down all the little baby hairs."
Twist and dry
On days where you can wash hair but not dry it all the way, twist damp hair into a coil on top of your head, and pin with some bobby pins.
As the heat of your scalp dries your hair, you will have some nice, smooth waves when you release it at the end of the day. And the higher you've twisted it up, the more volume you'll get too!
Choose a reliable shampoo
With the right products you can tame any troublesome mane. Start with the TRESemmé Smooth & Silky Shampoo, which is perfect for smoothing unruly and frizz-prone hair – saving you time later – thanks to its intense moisturisation properties.
No time to shampoo? A quick spray of dry shampoo will help stretch the days between washes. Simply mist over roots around 15 centimetres away and ruffle with your fingertips.
Also, hairstyles like a low pony, or a half-up, half-down high ponytail thrive off dirty hair so these are great alternatives for non-hair-wash days.
Simple accessory saviours
Having a small brush or scrunchie in your handbag or glovebox means you can whip up a style on the run.
For easy touch-ups, a small comb or mini paddle brush is essential for your on-the-move kit; while a headband with textured fabric or a pretty print can add something extra if you're wearing your hair out. Bonus: it can hide pesky baby hairs and works with both straight hair or messy waves.
