The Uptown Sleek Autumn/Winter 2016

The hair at Carolina Herrera's New York Fashion Week autumn/winter 2016 show managed to both complement and contrast with her beautiful AW16 collection. Elegance is the signature of the Carolina Herrera brand, and the oh-so-elegant Uptown Sleek hairstyle created by TRESemmé reflected this perfectly. Clean and healthy-looking, shiny and sleek, this polished evolution of the classic blowout echoed the clean lines, flowing fabrics and shimmering accents on the runway.

In contrast, texture had a starring role in this collection, with folds and ruching creating structured shapes softened by the designer’s materials of choice – think gentle waves of organza, flowing silk and crushed velvet. Hair that was kept perfectly sleek and fell smoothly from a side part, paired with natural make-up, resulted in a look that refused to compete with the 3D shapes and embellishments that made this clothing collection stand out, instead retaining a quiet confidence.

Despite looking salon-polished, this hairstyle is actually super easy to create yourself. If you’re able to do a blowout then all you need are the right products to elevate it to an Uptown Sleek. And while sleek styles naturally lend themselves to eveningwear and the office, there's no reason this look can't be incorporated into your everyday look for a dose of chic.

Here’s how TRESemmé New York Fashion Week Ambassador Orlando Pita created effortless elegance on the Carolina Herrera catwalk.

    STEP 1:

Prepare hair by washing with TRESemmé Keratin Smooth Shampoo and Conditioner. The keratin-infused formula will help tame frizz. Create the super-sleek base that defines this hairstyle with a generous amount of TRESemmé Keratin Smooth Flat Iron Smoothing Spray on damp hair, and comb through to the ends.
